Fortress Grand Opening 27th March!
East Links Family Park is now on 'FACEBOOK' become a fan to receive our posts, events and park info.
East Links Fortress will open on the 27th March. Progress has moved on at pace with the castle-aded siding is now in place and the rope structures now being fitted. There is a large rope play element in the fortress with 2 cargo nets, 2 rope bridges, 8 spiders' webs and a spiral net climb. We are awaiting delivery of our two small slides to accompany our unique four-lane slide that takes visitors on a death defying 7m/sec drop crossing the railway track. The four-level fortress has more than 15 different activities within including rope bridges, climbing nets, tunnels and slides.
The Fortress Grand Opening will start with an Official Opening Ceremony by the King of Scotland who, led by his armed guard, will ride his steed on to the third level ramparts to address his subjects and declare the fortress open.Special attractions for the day following on the theme will be Birds of Prey by Alba Falconry, Archery from the Scottish Archery Centre and mock battle and stunts will be performed by the 'Northmen' Battle Re-enactment Group. Also in store are Stocks, Pole Pillow Jousting, a Medieval Dressing up competition (prize for the best dressed, come join in the fun!) and lots of medieval giveaways.
The Tartan sheep have now returned to the park from their visit to the Tartan ram. They should have been home sooner but the pass to the secret highland glen where the Clan McHaver keep the elusive Tartan Sheep has been blocked with snow since before Christmas. Clan Chief Haver McHaver called last week to let us know that the sunny weather over the February holiday week had cleared all the snow and the pass was now open. The Tartan Ram certainly did his job as the tartan ewes arrived back at East Links this week along with six newborn lambs, which are already starting to show some tartan colour.
Modern hybrids chickens like our Lohman Browns will lay eggs year round but as daylight stretches chickens start to lay more eggs and some less commercial or fancy chickens that have been on strike throughout the winter will come into-the-lay soon. This makes now an ideal time to think about your own flock of chickens. We have Lohman Browns in stock and have already hatched the first of our chicks. Ask about keeping chickens when you visit the farm. Anyone looking for a games pony, Flash our Appaloosa x Shetland yearling is looking for a good home for the price of his registration only!
