New Donkey foal and Lama cria
Our first donkey foal was born just over a week ago. After weeks of anticipation, Masie the larger jenny donkey gave birth to a very big jenny foal, (jenny’s are the females). Both mother and foal are doing well. Our visitors have called the new foal Tinkerbell, which was the most popular in the list of names put forward.
We have used the list again though to provide names for our two Lama crias, (Lama young), which are both hembras, (female Lamas). The older brown one born about two months ago now is called Lotty and the little white one just born this week is called Lola. Thanks to everyone who left us names on the list.
New dog kennels are available in the car park for visitors who do not wish to leave dogs in their cars on hot days, they are free to use and visitors are asked to leave them tidy.
Our staff took to the ocean wave in aid of the R.N.L.I a fortnight ago and although we didn’t win the raft race we all had lots of fun and raised well needed funds for a new life boat after the old one was ripped from it’s moorings and wrecked in a storm last winter. We also brought a bit of old fashioned fun to the Dunbar Lifeboat Day with a ‘guess the weight of the pig’ competition. The winner was a Mr Bonne who received a family pass to the park and of course the proceeds went to the R.N.L.I.
The new team in the café are doing well and have been making good use of the take away window, with Slushy drinks and milk shakes now on the menu.
With all the television coverage lately about the virtues of keeping a few hens in your back garden, we sold out of point-of-lay hens last month. A new batch is arriving this week though, they make the ideal pet with income and kids love selling Granny a dozen eggs!
See you all soon,
Grant
